We've all heard the saying 'opposites attract.' With this phrase ringing true with so many couples planning their weddings, Sarah Journay of Journay & Co set out to design a style shoot that centered around this concept. She says, "The vision for this shoot was to create something that pulled two opposite styles together in one cohesive design. I opted to pull this team together in hopes of creating something that was appealing to every couple as it showed that two styles could be blended seamlessly to create their perfect day!"

The team opted to use Industry as their venue, as it acts as the perfect blank slate. Sarah adds, "Industry is an industrial venue, but while its brick walls and exposed metal beams appeal to modern brides, we knew the pairing of heavy florals would create the perfect blend we were looking for!" With the venue selected, the color palette was an easy choice. She says, "Our color palette was simple - mostly black and white with a hint of blush and deep green. We wanted to pull in a bit of color to prevent the space from looking too bland, but only in a minimal way." The floral design was one way the color palette was infused in the shoot, using light colored, heavy florals and minimal greenery to pull in a classic, elegant vibe against the more modern venue.

Playing off of the 'opposites attract' theme, the team merged classic elements with more popular trends. Sarah notes, "Rather than bringing in 'hot trends' per se, we blended the old with the new. We brought in a lot of textural elements with leather and heavy floral while maintaining a clean look overall." This combination of style was demonstrated through the rentals. Sarah adds, "We rented slate black plates from A Classic Party Rental and ghost chairs from Violet Vintage. Atmosphere Indy created a stunning drapery display for our ceremony site with a single chandelier. These set the tone for our shoot by creating a clean, modern feel with the classic and whimsical elements brought in with the drapery."

We love the way this shoot encourages couples to include style choices from both parties. While it may seem easier to select one, clear-cut vision, the fusion of two themes that reflect the couple as a whole will undoubtedly make for a more interesting and unique celebration!
