No bride is ever going to say:  “oh I wish I could find more information about weddings!”  Google  “weddings” and you get 36 million results. That’s right. 36 million.

So you’ve read blogs. Lots of blogs. You’ve scoured wedding websites. You’ve been on Pinterest until you couldn’t see straight.

What could WeddingDay possibly add to the mix?

As managing editor for the last three years, my favorite part of the job is interacting with an eclectic mix of real brides (what is a group of brides called?) as we’ve featured their weddings. The one comment I hear the most often: don’t get bogged down in the details to the point that you don’t enjoy the day. It’s cliché, but it is one of those clichés that has a lot of truth to it.

But accomplishing “letting go” on the day of is easier said than done.  In our regular lives (outside of the wedding planning world) focusing is harder and harder as we become more connected and in some ways, more bombarded with stuff that we may or may not need to know. Picking the color scheme alone can put you over the edge.

An instagram photo of a bridesmaid dress you like could get eight different responses and most of them probably won’t be positive. Creative paralysis sets in as you try to make everyone from your pregnant sister-in-law to your very picky college roommate happy.

In this blog our WeddingDay team will sift through all that information and pass on some trends, affordable options, tips from experts and other ideas we’ve come across. After all, you and your groom should enjoy the process as well as the day that will become your anniversary.

A Little Bit about Kathy

My background is in print journalism, so I’ve relished researching the ins and outs of the wedding industry. But telling stories is my favorite part and I’ve always believed that everyone has a story – realizing that some stories are better than others. I have a journalism and political science degree and a master’s degree from Indiana University (diehard Hoosier) and worked as a reporter and a non-profit executive director. I’ve been married for 35 years, have three grown children and one very spoiled dog – a PBGV (google this breed!)

A Little Bit About Jenna

Jenna is a Minnesota-born and -raised writer with a passion for words and a contagious enthusiasm for weddings. In addition to being a recent newlywed herself, Jenna has worked behind the scenes in the wedding industry ever since college. She has a background in journalism and served as an associate editor for the Betty Crocker brand before moving to Indiana. Jenna likes to surround herself with beautiful things like good books, her favorite cookie recipes, fiercely passionate people, Christmas lights and her Giant Schnoodle puppy.

It’s simple: you want to be happy. You want your wedding to be happy. We want to help make that happen.
