Pop Some Champagne and Enjoy This Fall Grand Rapids E-Session: The Engagement of Kayla and Michael

When Kayla and Michael both decided to take a chemistry course in college, they never expected to meet their future spouse. However, that is exactly what happened! "We met in college at our chemistry lab class when Mike sat next to me to be lab partners for the semester. From there we began to be good friends, started going out on a few dates and the rest is history," Kayla recalls. Michael proposed on a hike in Allegan, Michigan, which reminded Kayla of their hiking trip in Marquette where they got to know each other better.
 

Without snooping onto Kayla's Pinterest board, Michael designed Kayla's ring all by himself. While it does have a classic look, Kayla's engagement ring is quite modern! The rose gold band is something that is very popular now, and Michael chose to pair it with a tiara-like diamond setting that doesn't highlight a central stone like most engagement ring settings. We love that they chose to wear comfortable clothes to make it look like they are on a typical date!
 

Before they scheduled an engagement session, Kayla and Michael knew they wanted a natural outdoor setting since hiking was such a large part of their relationship. Their photographer was able to recommend the perfect natural scene! Time was of the essence for them to complete this engagement session as the weather was growing colder. Kayla and Michael lucked out and got the leaves in peak fall color!
 

Kayla and Michael had talked about the general details of their wedding a few times before they got engaged but didn't start planning until this past year. Though thinking about everything that they needed to get done was very overwhelming for Kayla and Michael, planning has been going well for them! Kayla gushes, "Ultimately, we are in this together and each time we cross an item off the list, it is that much less stress and more excitement to be getting married."
