The Vision

Modern meets whimsical on the color wheel in our Detroit cover shoot! Thinking outside of the box, Miranda Crace, Detroit event planner and owner of Spoke Events, wanted to put a unique spin on Classic Blue, the Pantone Color of the Year. Miranda explains, “We use blue so often at events, I thought, 'what are some unconventional uses of Classic Blue?' The most classic thing I could think of was primary colors.” Utilizing this thought as inspiration, this Detroit vendor team crafted a lovely shoot on the farm! These gorgeous heartfelt vibes, captured by Farmington Hills photographer Smitten Mitten Photography, are ready to be your inspiration for the season.

The Venue

The primary colors and this farmhouse venue were a match made in heaven! Zingerman's Cornman Farms, located in Dexter, Michigan, was the perfect setting for this modern rustic shoot. Miranda says, “Cornman Farms is a farmhouse style venue complete with a vegetable garden for their kitchen and red barn. The house itself showcases classic colonial architecture – giving a timeless elegance on a more rustic property. It allows couples to do anything from a light and airy fairytale to a bold and modern al fresco dinner – like we opted for in this shoot.”

The Florals

Because the color palette was kept as only three colors, this allowed for the team to get creative! West Bloomfield Township florist Design Quintessentials designed the perfect floral creations, filled with clusters of baby's breath blossoms to stay on theme and break the mold. These florals looked like they could have been picked straight out of the fields, keeping the wildflower vibe on point!

The Look

This bride shines in a traditional yet elegant gown from Becker's Bridal Outlet! The model’s gently curled hair, styled by Cohen Beauty, brings a classic bounce of romance to her look. Detroit makeup artist Shelbie Kramer carried the color palette into the model’s makeup with a bright, bold red lip and a soft blue eyeshadow. The groom’s unique boutonnière adds a gorgeous pop of yellow and Classic Blue to tie together this couple’s look.

The DÉcor

Cornman Farms had tables, chairs and tableware on hand to help this team achieve the desired vision. By pairing together the classic farmhouse furniture with gold and matte white flatware from Hostess Haven, this modern look came to life. The stationery designed by The Paper Creation balances a minimalist touch with Classic Blue texture to achieve an overall lovely aesthetic.

The Cake

This cake’s simplistic look gives it lots of texture! The white cake, designed by Detroit bakery Flourish Detroit, is layered using Classic Blue with pops of yellow and red florals. This bold look doesn't cease to amaze in both taste and decoration!
