Sparks flew for Monica and Jay when they met during a night out at a bar. When it came time to propose, Jay aimed to ask around Monica’s birthday. He proposed shortly after a dinner with her grandparents and alerted the whole family shortly after!

Monica thought the hunt for her dress would be hard because she wanted a more modest style. However, she only went through ten dresses before she found “the one!”

Planning moved quickly for Monica as she created a wedding email and binder to keep herself organized. Monica and her bridal party made use of a lot of bridal expos to gather information about vendors, but had a lot of fun, too! She notes, “From gathering information to spending time with my favorite women, I found wedding expos to be the best way to gather a lot of information for planning. And the vendors that I chose were largely based on things that I won at the bridal expos! ”

What we love

Monica’s family was very involved in the making of this wedding special, and we couldn’t be happier! Her cousin works as an event decorator and designed the reception hall to make Monica speechless. Monica spent a special moment on the dance floor with not only her father but her grandfather as well. “We share a special relationship and are very close so it was important to me to share a special dance with him,” Monica says. “It was something you don’t really see at weddings and everyone thought it was a really sweet idea!”

Advice from the couple

Monica advises future brides and grooms to put a lot of thought into their bridal parties. “If you chose a solid group of people, you will have all the support you need. I carefully chose mine and had no regrets we spent time together going to bridal expos and I had an overwhelming amount of support from my ladies! They pulled me through long nights, stressful situations and kept the positive vibes flowing all through the planning process!”
