Winter is a season that many brides shy from, however, the month of December offers a magical atmosphere that you cannot get any other time of year. Those warm, cozy vibes are the exact reason that winter weddings are irresistible. For Kelly and Cody, a winter wedding was perfect. Kelly says, “I never envisioned a December wedding, but it was the only time that would work for us. However, after deciding on December, I knew I wanted it to feel cozy and wintry. With the date being close to Christmas, I wanted to incorporate a little Christmas spirit, without it being a full on Christmas-themed wedding.”

Focusing in on that winter spirit, Kelly and Cody started planning a wedding that would incorporate the whimsical mood of the season with the romance of a wedding. The venue ended up being the perfect backdrop for this wedding. Kelly says, “The venue was new and just starting out as a wedding venue when we first looked at it. We loved everything about it - open yet intimate, windows, slightly rustic (but not a full on barn feel), and the owners were so nice!” The Black Barn Vineyard and Winery departs from the traditional idea of a wedding barn and offers a new, fresh take on barn venues with a refreshing design for modern brides.

Kelly’s dress invited that same magical feeling with delicate lace and details like a sweet bow. She says, “I went to The White Dress and instantly loved everything about it! The store was so girly and pink and all of the workers were so nice! I tried on just a few dresses here and finally found exactly what I was looking for!”

What we love

We love that Kelly and Cody embraced the fact that their wedding was close to Christmas. Kelli ended up creating unique guest gifts for the holiday. She says, “I designed ornaments to be hung on Christmas trees and then to be used as favors for the guests. I feel like they made the venue so much more wintry and cozy!”

Advice from the bride

Kelly says, “Relax and do what you and your fiancé want for your wedding. Everybody will have opinions and ideas for you - just smile and nod at them, but stay true to what you want.” It is so important to stay focused on what matters to you and your spouse. This is your wedding and it should reflect the union of you and your spouse.
