When Adam asked Katie for her number at her job, Katie thought he wasn't serious and blew him off until he asked again. This time, she agreed to a date. After dating for a while and designing the perfect ring for nine months, Adam proposed to Katie. He bought a welcome mat that said, "The Kurszewski's" and set the ring on top of it. When they walked out, Katie saw it and turned back to see Adam on one knee!
Look how stunning Katie is in that beautiful lace dress! "I knew I wanted some lace and long sleeves," Katie admits. "I tried on four dresses total. This was my second. I went back to it at the end, and I just felt so incredibly beautiful in it, I knew it was the one." The large lace detailing is absolutely gorgeous, and we love the neckline!
Because Katie was very organized when it came to planning, she knew exactly what her color scheme and theme would be. She did not want to do a Christmas wedding necessarily, but Katie still wanted to show her love for winter and Christmas. "I wanted some deeper winter colors that would look good for the season," Katie explains. They ended up choosing gold and hunter green. There was a lot of D.I.Y. that went into their wedding as well, with Katie's friend Laura creating the floral arrangements, décor and centerpieces!
There were several details in their day that honored Katie's parents, who unfortunately both passed from cancer. They incorporated a memory ladder with pictures of her parents on it and donated to the American Cancer Society in their honor. "We had so much lover surrounding us even without them there," Katie gushes. "I felt their presence there."
What We Love
The Grand LV held a special place in Katie's heart because of her connection with the owner's story. Katie shares, "The owner's parents both passed from cancer. She found out after they purchased the building that her parents ended up getting married/having their reception there." We love how Melanie, The Grand LV's owner, worked to preserve this amazing space that both she and Katie connected with!
Advice from the Couple
Katie and Adam advise, "Enjoy the morning of. Soak it all in as much as you can. Take moments to just stare out at all the loved ones that have come to celebrate with you. Stress is going to happen—you can't avoid it—but don't let it overtake the process. It truly goes so fast."
