The Vision

For our Fall/Winter Chicago cover shoot, Shelby Vance and Lexi Taylor of Becoming Designs Events wanted to design a shoot that was fun and different from something they had done before. “Our goal was to create a classic, romantic wedding with more colors and fairytale-like details to give it a whimsical feel,” Shelby and Lexi explain. They also wanted to build a color palette of typical fall and winter colors, but muted the vibrant pigments to better complement each other.

The Venue

“Our vision for a venue for this shoot was to have a blank canvas to work with and lots of natural light. LM Studio Chicago was a perfect find,” Lexi and Shelby rave. Every corner of the venue presented a visually appealing atmosphere that allowed our talented photographer, Ben Ramos Photography, to capture beautiful and breathtaking images!

The Florals

When planning for this shoot, Lexi and Shelby didn’t have much in mind for the flowers besides wanting to have long stems to make the arrangements fit the theme. Ceciel’s Flowers blew their expectations out of the water after Lexi and Shelby gave her their color palette! They say, “We know that florists always know which flowers work best with specific designs, so we let her be creative with her arrangements!”

The Look

“The wedding dress always plays such a huge role in wedding designs,” Shelby and Lexi gush. “We gave our vision of a dress to the bridal salon, and they were able to pick out this dress as one of their new styles!” The sweetheart neckline and ballgown style beautifully bring all the romantic vibes to this shoot. The small details in the dress are what really brought the whole look together for Lexi and Shelby. Rare Bird Beauties styled our model's hair and makeup to be simple while still keeping the whimsical idea alive. And the classic menswear from SuitShop fits right into the romantic theme!

The Cake

Lexi and Shelby wanted the cake to be unique and whimsical but gave Chicago Sugar Daddy full creative independence. We love how they were able to include touches of so many vibrant colors all around the cake. The florals on top really took the cake to the next whimsical level as well!

The DÉcor

The venue truly speaks for itself, so Lexi and Shelby were able to pull off this shoot without many additional pieces. “The majority of our décor rentals were what was used to create the tablescape,” Lexi and Shelby admit. “The tablescape plays a huge role in the colors and theme of a wedding.” Every piece of this scene fits the theme from the candlesticks and the glassware to the illusion arch. And what better addition to an elegant affair than charcuterie? This delicious spread was provided by Fork It Foods!
