After nearly four years of a dating hiatus, Brent and Lexi were able to find their way back into each other’s hearts. Brent and Lexi met and dated briefly in middle school but just remained friends until freshman year of college. A few years down the road, a photo shoot at Cherokee Park provided Brent with the perfect opportunity to propose. “I had a feeling it might happen but as the photos progressed and he still hadn’t done it, I gave up in a sense,” Lexi admits. Brent surprised Lexi by getting down on one knee in their final photo.

With a Pinterest board loaded with wedding ideas, Lexi knew she wanted a rustic look. Her desire for these details made The Refinery a perfect venue since the new owners had recently remodeled it with exposed bricks and natural wood.

Lexi thought she knew what kind of wedding dress she would buy, however, visiting The Bridal Suite of Louisville caused her to change her mind. “The second dress I had tried on was a little different than I imagined, but I fell in love,” Lexi gushes. In fact, she never wanted to take it off. The details ended up being what won Lexi over. Many layers of lace and buttons down the back truly made her feel like a bride.

Though Lexi had set her heart on the rustic style, the color palette took a little trial and error. Once she decided, Lexi put her own twist on a familiar tradition. “I finally decided to do something a little different and had my bridesmaids wear all different colors, and I LOVED it!” Lexi shares.

What We Love

Having all the people Lexi and Brent love in one place was what made the day special. Some rain ruined the chance for their wedding to take place in the courtyard, but the groomsmen and family members saved the day by moving the arch and the unity cross inside for the happy couple.

Advice from the Couple

Lexi urges other couples to enjoy the day and soak everything in because it will be over faster than you can say, “I do.” “My husband and I snuck away for sunset photos, and although it took away from our guests, it was a nice moment for just the two of us, and we really got to soak in the moment,” Lexi says.
