The night before James and McKenzie met, a friend that James hadn't talked to in a while contacted him and asked if he wanted to go on a blind date. This friend was dating McKenzie's sister and wanted to get them together. Even though their first date was brief, McKenzie and James got to know each other over text the next few months. After dating for several years, James was ready to propose and asked McKenzie if she wanted to open her Christmas present early before heading to her family's celebration. With some skepticism, McKenzie opened the small box James gave her and said 'yes'!

"Earlier in the same year as our proposal, McKenzie showed me a wedding band that she really liked. I saved the details of this band to use when purchasing the diamond," James explains. With that information, James went to the jeweler to pick out a diamond that would look beautiful with the band McKenzie wanted. McKenzie loves that the ring is unique and timeless at the same time. Her favorite touches are the stunning details on the band!

To find their engagement and wedding photographer, McKenzie took to social media. After posting to a bridal group on Facebook asking for recommendations for an authentic and timeless photographer, their photographer's name came up. "As soon as I opened her Facebook page and looked at her website, I knew she would be the photographer for us!" McKenzie raves. The happy couple decide to have their photos taken in the beautiful downtown Rochester, Michigan area since that's the city their wedding will be in. They also included cupcakes from the bakery business McKenzie started during the pandemic for a fun flair in their engagement session!

McKenzie gushes, "It may be too early to say, but I truly do not relate to anything dealing with wedding stress. I am loving every part of the planning process." Since McKenzie had been waiting to get engaged for a while, she already knew everything she wanted in her big day. In fact, she booked her venue right away! They are planning on keeping the wedding intimate with one-of-a-kind personal flair.
