This South Bend Wedding is Full of Industrial Elegance: The Real Wedding of Samantha and Melissa Lechlitner-Lewis

Photos ByJenn Marie Photography

Growing up, Melissa and Samantha played against each other on their hometowns’ basketball teams. They reconnected in their late 20s and found they had much more in common than they realized! Sam used her talent for writing poetry to ask Melissa to marry her, reading them out loud when they were on a secluded beach. You can’t get any more romantic than that!

Melissa went dress shopping with her friends in Chicago and found her dress on the first try! Instead of buying it there, she went to a local bridal shop to get the gown at a cheaper price while supporting a smaller business. Samantha knew she wanted to wear a jumpsuit, yet still wanted to stand out as a bride. She had her sleek black jumpsuit custom created for her, pairing it with a stylish jacket that we love!

The pair relied heavily on the expertise of their vendors to help plan their wedding. “We weren’t afraid to ask for suggestions,” Melissa says.

What we love

The pair held their wedding on New Year's Eve, ringing in the new year with all their loved ones together. “The DJ had a countdown on the wall all night and it was so fun to celebrate it together and bring in the new year with your favorite people,” Melissa gushes.

Advice from the couple

Melissa urges couples to pick out the major vendors first, such as the venue, DJ and photographer. “The little details are stressful, but those are the things that your guests probably won’t even notice,” she adds. “They will notice if your DJ played awful music and no one could dance.”
