A Spanish-Inspired Garden Celebration in Battle Creek, Michigan: The Real Wedding of Brianna and Ben Wolfson

After both deciding to swipe right on a dating app, Ben and Brianna started dating. One afternoon, Ben told Brianna that they were going to meet some friends for lunch in the park. On the walk over, Ben got down on one knee on a bridge overlooking the Chicago skyline and asked Brianna to marry him.

"Going into dress shopping I wasn’t sure what designers I liked or didn’t like. I knew I wanted something that felt comfortable yet elegant and
most of all something that could pass the dance test—I love to dance!" Brianna shares. One unique thing her bridal shop did to help Brianna find the dress of her dreams was to fill out a questionnaire before she arrived about what styles she liked. They had ten dresses selected for her when she arrived to try on. After eight of the dresses, Brianna had found 'the one.'

Originally, Brianna and Ben were hoping to be able to host a destination wedding, but COVID forced them to rethink their plans. Instead, they picked a venue that allowed their guests to feel as if they had been transported to Spain and Portugal. With her designer's eye ready to plan, Brianna started to put their dream wedding together. "Everything from the food to flowers to decor all circled back to our Spanish/Portuguese garden party theme," Brianna explains. "Greencrest Manor was the perfect setting to bring our wedding vision to life."

Though their wedding planner was a huge help in bringing their big day together, Ben really took the reins. "Ben is a master when it comes to organization and creating Excel spread sheets!" Brianna raves. They were able to make their dream day a reality through vendors that were recommended to them by word of mouth. All the vendors helped their vision come to life with beautiful flowers and a stunning blue and white theme, inspired by Spanish and Portuguese design.

What We Love

One of the most important things to Brianna and Ben was to make their guests feel special. They were greeted with a signature cocktail when they arrived and given a parasol and fan to combat the July heat as they took their seats. During the cocktail hour, Brianna had personalized napkins with 'B&B' on them, swizzle sticks for their cocktails, calligraphed waiter napkins with each of the appetizer names, and a custom flag flying in the garden with their wedding logo. At the reception, there was an escort wall, flowers from ceiling to floor, a laser cut-out of their logo, and mini charcuterie boards with guests names that served as name cards.

Advice from the Couple

Ben and Brianna advise, "Remember to make your guests feel special throughout the day. It is your special day but it’s also the biggest party you’ll probably ever plan with all your favorite people, so make them feel special too!"
