Zach trained Alex when she became a new employee at a hospital in Warsaw, Indiana and the rest is history! After buying a house together, Zach chose to propose while working on remodeling the basement. He placed a lock box on a chair in the middle of the room with a note to put in that day's date. Alex recalls, "I put in the combination and inside were the keys to the house and a note that said, 'You have the keys to the house, keys to the fence and the keys to my heart.' I turned around and he was down on one knee and he proposed."

"I knew that I wanted my wedding to 'feel' like to us and to our guests but I wasn’t sure how to get that feeling until I started digging in," Alex shares. They waited to start planning until after the birth of their first child and until COVID protocols eased up a bit. Alex knew the most important vendor to her would be her photographer so they could have photos to look back on for the rest of their lives. While Pinterest and Facebook wedding groups helped Alex get her idea together, her wedding coordinator (who got married a month before Alex!) had helpful suggestions and recommendations for vendors to bring Alex's dream wedding to life.

Knowing what she wanted, Alex went dress shopping with two friends after work one day. Alex explains, "My first time I went dress shopping I wanted lace, sleeves, deep V, and no train." Her friends pulled all kinds of dresses off the racks for her to try on. The moment she put on her dress, she knew it was 'the one' and cried with joy. However, her dress was almost exactly opposite of what she thought she wanted. We think she looks absolutely stunning!

Alex was able to throw some personal D.I.Y. touches into their day. "I made all the bouquets for the bridesmaids and myself," Alex gushes. "I wanted to make a unique bouquet that was personalized to me with lots of greenery and not a specific color pattern." She played with some fake flowers she had purchased until she made something she liked. She also designed all the signage and the bottle décor that served as their centerpieces.

What we love

Alex's uncle not only let them get married at his lake house—which had special meaning to both of them—but also drove up from Florida to officiate their wedding. "My husband lived on the other side of the lake and our dates would often end up back at his place either swimming in the lake or going to the park," Alex admits. "My uncle and I also share a very special relationship so it was very meaningful to get married at his home."

Advice from the Couple

"Try your best to enjoy the wedding because it goes by so fast!" Alex and Zach advise. "We wish we could relive our big day."
