When planning their wedding, Zachary and Duggan came up with a very specific and fun theme. "The description we gave our vendors was to think about if a disco cruise ended up stuck on a tropical island and decided to set up the party there," they explain. Once they had that idea in mind, they planned for lush greenery to fill the space and make their guests feel like they stepped out of the busy Chicago city and into a tropical paradise. There are all kinds of other tropical details in their day from the invitation suite to the color scheme on the tablescapes. The venue was also an easy choice. Zachary and Duggan knew they would be moving away from Chicago, so they wanted to have their special day in a place that featured a good view of the Chicago skyline to forever remember where they fell in love. It already featured browns and greens that meshed so well with their theme, too, which made the decision even easier!
What We Love
The sweetheart table was a highlight in this space. Zachary and Duggan share, "On top of the disco ball floor pieces framing the sweetheart table, we had smaller touches of disco balls spread throughout the space and candles everywhere to set the mood. As the sun went down, green uplights helped bring everything further together." They also had portraits of their dogs, who couldn't come to the wedding, for their bar signs. During their reception, they also put a special bottle of wine and their vows into a wine box made by Zachary's dad.
