Alexandria and Adam met in East Lansing through mutual friends. Alexandria says, “At the time, he was going to Michigan State and I was going to Douglas J Aveda Institute. We officially hit it off when we both ran the Chicago Half Marathon in 2011. We all went out to dinner the following day after a Tigers game and happened to sit next to each other at dinner.”

The couple soon fell for each other and Adam knew that he had to pop the question. He chose to propose at Alexandria’s annual family reunion in St. Catherine, Ontario. Alexandria adds, “He said he could have proposed anywhere in the world, but wanted to make sure we would have a place to come back to in the years to come. He knows how special St. Catherine is to me and it was important to be with family afterwards to celebrate! His parents and sister came for the weekend as well. No one knew but his sister that he was going to propose.”

After a magical proposal and a definite yes — the planning began! Alexandria and Adam wanted a wedding that came to them organically. There were no exact visions for the day. They went with whatever drew them in and it turned out beautifully.

Advice from the bride

Alexandria says, “Do a first look! My husband was against it. He is a traditionalist, but I insisted due to timing and photos and neither of us regret it. We got married at 4 p.m., so I really didn’t want to spend our wedding day without being with him the majority of the day.”

What we love

We love that Alexandria and Adam honored their ethnic heritage in their wedding. Alexandria notes, “We played both Armenian and Polish music. I am Armenian, he is Polish. We had an Armenian band (Nigosian band) and our DJ played polka music for us.”
