Good undergarments on your wedding day are more than just something pretty. These specific articles of clothing act as a foundation that supports a heavy, ornate gown. Your needs for specific under-things, depends on the type of gown you have, and, of course, on your figure. Here are some tips to be an informed undergarment shopper:

BRA

No matter what your figure looks like, how busty you are or the style of gown you are wearing, a bra is a must. Bras come in endless styles. Strapless, convertible straps, the 'no-bra', and so on. Look for one that is smooth, and undetectable under your dress. Stay away from a white bra; a nude toned one will be more invisible. If your gown calls for a strapless bra, be sure to road-test the piece before your wedding day. You don't want a wardrobe malfunction in the middle of the reception!

BUSTIER

A bustier is basically a long bra. Not only does a bustier support your bustline, it also cinches in your upper torso. This long clean line looks great under simply adorned gowns and sheaths.

BUILT-IN-BRA

Some brides opt to have a bra sewn into their dress. This is a great option to avoid a strap showing. To see if this is a good option for you, you should consult your dress coordinator or wedding stylist.

SLIMMER

A slimmer is a fancy name for the old fashioned girdle. Slimmers are sold under a variety of brand names, one of the most popular being Spanx. Slimmers are available to lift, form, support, cinch in, smooth and hide. These underpieces are wonderful at camouflaging figure flaws. If you are wearing a figure skimming dress, look for a slimmer that extends past your knees to avoid any unsightly ribs or bumps.

PANTIES

Nothing can ruin the perfect look of a beautiful bride faster than VPL (visible panty lines). Likewise, nothing can make a bride more uncomfortable than tugging at a panty that is riding up throughout her wedding. If you are wearing panty hose, and other layers of garments, you might want to consider foregoing the panty for the event.

PANTY HOSE

I admit I hate panty hose. I am serious, I really hate them! However, they can be the perfect finishing piece on your wedding day. A good pair of stockings can combine several undergarments in one. They can also act as a cushion between your shoes and feet (to avoid blisters.)
