Cassie says of her now husband, Luke, “We were introduced by mutual friends who thought we would be a great match, and boy were they right! We hit it off instantly, and our friends were quite proud of themselves. After this first meeting, I called my mom and told her I had met the man I was going to marry, and she didn’t even question it!”

Luke’s wedding proposal was certainly well-planned. Cassie recalls, “I had been feeling a bit under the weather, but Luke invited me to come down to Indianapolis and go to dinner with his family. Since I was feeling a bit better, I decided I would join. When Luke picked me up, he ‘realized’ he had forgotten his wallet where he had been doing some summer landscaping work earlier in the day. A bit put out, he said he would be quick and we would just run by there on the way to dinner. Well, when we arrived, I saw the entire lane was lined by over a 100 luminary lights, and I knew it was about to happen! As we were walking over the little bridge, I could see my parents and his parents standing along this path holding photographs of Luke and I. At each photo, he stopped and shared why that photograph represented a meaningful part of our relationship. Then, at the end of the path, was a patio covered in rose petals and lanterns with the trees surrounding it, strung with globe lights (my favorite), and that’s when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him to which I enthusiastically responded ‘yes!’”

“Being of the Pinterest generation, I had already started getting a pretty good idea of what I was looking for and had even done a bit of research on vendors,” says Cassie. “So, within the first day of being engaged, we had a date set, and, within the first week of getting engaged, we were setting up meetings with photographers and videographers.”

Cassie pictured a glass building with chandeliers, and instantly a greenhouse came to mind. Cassie says, “We called around to a few, but glass greenhouses are rare. When we found Jones, we knew it was going to be the perfect spot with the brick pavers and pitched, glass structure.”

Cassie's stunning bouquet was designed by Eufloric Events and consisted of burgundy dahlias, burgundy cushion mums, Blue Sky echeveria, burgundy ceremonies, privet berry, plum ranunculus, eryngium, seeded eucalyptus and silver dollar eucalyptus. As an extra special touch, the bouquet's wrap was made of satin ribbon with an overlay of lace and satin covered buttons from Cassie's mother's wedding dress.

Cassie says of her timeless, classic and elegant dress, “I wasn’t sure I was going to get the total package both in a husband AND a dress, but I sure did!”

From custom rings and family heirlooms to dried roses (the first Luke had ever given to Cassie) and lace from Cassie’s mother’s wedding dress being wrapped around her bouquet, Cassie and Luke’s wedding was full special touches. They even incorporated Luke’s Slovenian heritage into their special day as well. Cassie says, “His dad and grandpa (who has since passed) played several songs—polka and waltz—on the accordion during our reception and served a Slovenian liquor and homemade dessert!”

The D.I.Y. projects were also numerous. Cassie collected every piece of silverware from rummage stores in order to have mixed and matched settings. Cassie also made all the signs for the reception using old mirrors among other sweet projects.

What We Love

Cassie says, “I think the most memorable piece of the wedding was the venue...and the polka playing—not your typical wedding music, but it could not have been more perfect!”
