A Perfect Pairing

During their first year at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, Rebekah VanDrake and Christopher Singh quickly became more than friends. Rebekah recalls, "Chris was very calm, easy to get along with, and we had a lot in common." They respected a lot about each other-both are driven, organized planners that take time for family and enjoy having fun.

Taking a break from their studies one evening, the couple decided to share a bottle of wine over dinner. A random selection that proved to be ideal, Moscato D'Asti easily became the couple's favorite.

"Marked by its light and sparkling character, Moscato D'Asti has a soothing sweetness that is easy to fall in love with."

Suitably, Chris describes Rebekah the same way.

One evening after a surprise trip to the spa, Rebekah was given three-dozen roses and served a beautiful dinner at her favorite restaurant. Most romantic of all, Chris took two weeks preparing a slideshow featuring highlights throughout their relationship. With a sparkling new ring on her finger and slideshow playing, Rebekah was truly touched by the magical moment.

The proposal marked the beginning of transition-both graduated from law school, studied for the Bar, passed the exam, bought a house, and began new jobs. In what felt like a whirlwind, thirteen months would quickly pass and wedding to-dos were squeezed into weekend agendas. When describing the planning, Rebekah said, "We had so much support from our families that we were able to get a lot done. And we had fun doing it!"

On May 30, 2009, the wedding bells began to chime. Dressed in a stunning Lazaro gown, Rebekah carried a collection of blooms designed to complement her vintage theme. Blush pink, soft peach, warm ivory, and mint green floral was in abundance and beautifully stood out against the bridesmaids' black silk shantung dresses.

As for the ceremony and reception, guests would later describe the celebration as "the wedding of the century." Entertainment included a bag piper in honor of the bride's Scottish heritage and authentic Bhangra music in tribute to the groom's family ties in India. As another notable surprise, Rebekah?s parents had a replica of the Taj Mahal carved from ice to welcome Chris' relatives from India to America. Rebekah notes, "We were pleased to hear guests say the day really suited Chris and me."

Rebekah's father, mother, and aunt hand-bottled wine in Michigan to give as parting favors to all the wedding guests. Although this was a royal and thoughtful gift, it was the sparkling wine enjoyed throughout their relationship that meant the most to Rebekah and Chris. Nothing would pair so perfectly to toast the newlyweds than the sweetness of their favorite-Moscato D'Asti.
