Jackie and Drue were high school sweethearts. Jackie says, “We met our junior year of high school after I moved from Memphis, Tennessee to Fort Wayne, Indiana. We were both from Tennessee, so we hit it off right away!” And their engagement was just as sweet. While studying abroad in Europe, Drue gave Jackie the surprise of her life. She explains, “He surprised me in Iceland at a beautiful lighthouse on the ocean and immediately got on one knee to propose. I was shocked!”

When it came to planning their special day, Jackie’s faith and personality inspired her the most. She says, “I am a classic Southern girl so I knew I wanted to keep things simple and clean, yet elegant. My faith is also something really important to me, so I knew I wanted to have the ceremony in a church and I am so glad I did. It was wonderful!” Jackie also loved the idea of a lit up barn for the reception because she felt it would bring out her and Drue’s southern side while still being very elegant.

After putting in some research, Jackie knew exactly what she wanted for her gown. She says, “I wanted a big ball gown, a strapless sweetheart neckline, and some pretty jewels on the dress that wasn’t too much. I kept searching until I found exactly that. I did not like the belt with the dress I went with so I bought a flashier belt and had my alterations lady add it to the dress. After that, it was perfect!”

Advice From the Bride

This #tranquillyeverafter bride says, “I have lots of advice for little things throughout planning, but overall I would say try your best not to put things off and get it done as early as you can. It will save you a lot of stress in the end. Also, just know that everything will end up working out!”

How This Bride Used WeddingDay

Jackie says, “My photographer told me about WeddingDay. I used their magazines throughout the wedding planning process to get hair, jewelry, and makeup ideas.”
