When a graphic designer bride teams up with a crew of Grand Rapids-area vendors, the sky is the limit and the results are downright pretty. Leanne Dunlavey and Jacob Westrate met on New Year's Eve in downtown Grand Rapids. Three years later, Jacob proposed to Leanne on the same holiday while standing in the home they had renovated together and would later move into!

Leanne knew three things she wanted in her wedding: an intimate celebration, a modern-yet-romantic vibe and a dessert bar (girl after my own heart). With a spring wedding, she aimed to use colors that reflected the spring weather that comes after a long Michigan winter. Soft and elegant was the goal so she chose blush, light green, berry and hints of silver and gold.

The couple selected the Bissell Tree House at the John Ball Zoo for their ceremony and reception. Leanne says she loved the feel of the venue and the downtown views of Grand Rapids. "It was in the city without feeling 'in the city'," explains Leanne.

Although she had support and direction from plenty of talented vendors, Leanne took on most of the projects on her own. She designed all of the stationery elements (exhibit A below) and the card mailbox, in addition to curating the table decor!
