Kelsey and her husband, Zach, have known each other since Pre-K. However, it was not until after their freshman year of college that they truly began to get to know each other. “I will never understand the timing of our relationship but will trust that it was best!” says Kelsey.

When Kelsey was on vacation with her family in Turks and Caicos, they gathered one evening to take a family photo. Kelsey says, “As we walked along the beach, I saw our photographer ahead. However, out of the corner of my eye, I saw Zach walking towards me. My jaw dropped, and I was speechless. He had told me that he was in Nashville...He then handed me a bouquet of pink roses and gave the sweetest proposal. I felt like I was in a dream.”

Once the couple got back, the first thing they did was book their reception venue. While Kelsey had some ideas in mind, her must-have was a wedding that was both fun and sparkly. Kelsey was mostly inspired by her sisters, mom, mother-in-law and wedding planner! “Each of these women knew me well and were able to share inspiring ideas with me that they knew I would love,” she says, adding, “My wedding planner was incredible. She was by far the best planning resource we had. She created a monthly agenda of tasks that needed to be completed, and it made the planning process more organized and enjoyable.”

With an invite list of 500, Kelsey and Zach needed a venue that could hold that many people comfortably. “My mother-in-law suggested the Allen County Memorial Coliseum Conference Center, and when we visited, I fell in love with it. It was elegant and beautiful on its own, even without decorations,” says Kelsey.

Kelsey had always dreamt of a Cinderella ball gown and a Cinderella ball gown she got! “The designer of my dress was Essence of Australia,” says Kelsey. “I bought my dress at One Fine Day Bridal and Gown Boutique in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I adored the ladies I worked with at the boutique. By the end of the process, I considered them friends.”

The couple had many special touches in their wedding. Kelsey explains, “One of the most special things about our wedding day is that my uncle did the opening at our ceremony, and my dad gave the message and married us. The message was personalized to us as a couple, and I couldn’t be more thankful that my dad played such an important role in leading us into our marriage.” Other unique adds included a fun Mad Lib activity for guests and a special speech. Kelsey says, “Zach and I each gave a speech at our reception thanking our families, friends and guests for being a part of our love story.”

Advice from the Bride

This #HerberlyEverAfter bride says,“The advice I would give to future brides is to get to a place where you are more excited about the marriage than the wedding day. As girls, we all dream of our wedding day, and it truly is one of the best days ever. However, it flies by. The beautiful thing is that the wedding does not need to be the end of the excitement because your marriage is something to be celebrated everyday.”
