Nothing screams romance like Europe. So, when Mark proposed to Megan after an epic trip to Germany and Prague, he selected the Charles Bridge, built in 1357 by King Charles IV.  She says, “As he held me close he said, 'I hope this is your fairytale ending,' and dropped to one knee to propose. Of course, I said 'yes' to my fairytale ending!”

The only way to describe this wedding is “magical.” Its romantic, industrial vibes, blush, champagne and gold tones and hints of glam embodied all the feels the couple was dreaming of. Even the bride’s jaw dropped when she finally saw her vision come to life.

Megan says, “My husband Mark and I love the city of Detroit. For years, both of us have witnessed its restoration into a beautiful, thriving community full of history, beautiful architecture and some amazing restaurants. So, it was a no-brainer for us to choose Detroit as the location for our wedding. I knew going into wedding planning that I wanted an industrial, romantic wedding, full of exposed brick, great architecture and romantic florals. That's why we settled on the Garden Theater.”

How could you not love a gorgeous seating chart? Megan and Mark found a six-foot vintage, gold mirror and incorporated calligraphy, a floral arrangement and tall candles. A large display of Edison lights also impressed. Megan says, “As far as D.I.Y, I collected all of the decor pieces. It was fun to search high and low for pieces that really matched my inspiration. Thank goodness for Etsy and BHLDN. Also, I have some very talented friends who design our signage and did the calligraphy for our seating chart.”

The florals were neutral and organic in nature. This played off the glitz and glam beautifully. Eucalyptus and the bride’s favorite flower, peonies were also infused. A six-foot hedge also graced the donut table and proved to be a showstopper.

What We Love

Besides her gorgeous, beaded, lace dress, Megan wore a beautiful sapphire ring that was her great grandmother's from Ireland. “As a little girl, I had always eyed this ring and loved trying it on,” she says. “So, when I got engaged my mom had it resized and surprised me with it. There is nothing like wearing a ring that is over 150 years old on your wedding day.”

Advice From the Bride

Megan says, “There are so many great ideas out there that it can be overwhelming, and you start to second guess yourself. So, if you can just take note of your personal style and translate it into your wedding, you will be all set! Also, if you get the chance during your wedding, take a moment to look out over all of your friends and family who have gathered to celebrate you and your marriage. It's an overwhelming feeling to be loved and celebrated like that.”
