The best wedding photographers are focused on you as a couple and telling your story through the images they capture. And they shouldn’t be afraid to sneak a couple of candid moments that will end up being the photos you adore for a lifetime!

All of that sums up Kai from Kai Davis Photography. She loves to be fun, silly and creative with her couples while also making them feel comfortable with her through the photography process. Her biggest goal is to capture you two for who you really are and have your personality shine through in all of her images. The best part of the job for her is being able to witness and capture those natural moments of pure love on the day of your wedding. We had the opportunity to talk with Kai and learn more about her business and photography process.

What inspired your business? What keeps you motivated?

"I am creative at heart. I love looking at the latest trends and fashion. I plan mood board sessions for creative shoots and take time to express my creativity. I have purposely set time aside this year to do more creative shoots. I have also taken time to rebrand and rebuild my process, creating a more organized system for my clients."

Tell us about your experience and skills.

"I have been in business for about 11.5 years. I started way back when my son was born. One day I picked up a camera and had to learn as I went. I love shooting with Canon. Nothing against any other amazing brand, it's what I started off with. I decided to go full time with wedding photography four years ago. I still work with my high school, family and maternity clients off season."

Give us an overview of your services. What makes your business unique?

"Well, I am a wedding, engagement and elopement photographer. I also host and plan editorial styled workshops and content days. Working as an editorial photographer gives me the advantage to give my couples the same artistic feel."

As a business owner, what do you wish to accomplish with your customers? What can a couple look forward to when booking you?

"My goal is to showcase my couples' big days in the most unique and artistic way. Photography is an art for me, like painting a picture. So, I take pride in every small detail when capturing a wedding."

Tell us about your favorite part of your job. What keeps it fun for you?

"I would say meeting new people. I love hearing about their engagement and their true love stories. I’m a storyteller, so being able to capture my couples at their most special moments is a win for me."

What’s the most common question you get from couples? What’s your answer to it?

"Do I need to do a first look? My answer is YES!!! It gives you more time to get those intimate moments without rushing. I know it's not a traditional trend, but this will allow you to get all of your bridal photos completed before the wedding."

What do you love about the industry you work in?

"I get to shoot love stories every weekend. So, I will admit I'm an EMOTIONAL being. Yes, I have cried at many weddings while shooting. I’m all about the magical happy endings."

What are the best tips you have for couples using your services? Any other words of wisdom to share?

"If possible, have a planner and/or a person in charge that can handle the timeline. This will eliminate the stress for the bride. I always make a point to share that flaws in the timeline can result in less time with their photographer."

Take a moment to brag about something you’re proud of!

"I am proud of the growth of my business over the past 11.5 years. It’s amazing how over the years you elevate through the experience of trial and error, which has made an opportunity for me to give my clients the best experience from Kai Davis Photography."

How do you calm the nerves of anxious customers? What steps do you take to help eliminate their stress?

"I tell my clients to have FUN!!! Some of the best moments I have captured were when they were having fun and being themselves."

What are your future goals for your business? How do you see it growing in the future?

"One of my future goals for Kai Davis Photography is building a strong team of photographers and videographers. I’m in the process of training some amazing young talented creatives. My dream is not too far away."
