Rustic and elegant vibes collide in this stunning Michigan style shoot. "The shoot was my idea," Ashley Auger of Smitten Mitten Photography admits. "I met a few newer vendors looking to stretch their creativity, and we teamed up." With the help of Sarah Sharrand of Shades of Teal Design, Ashley gathered up all the vendors to pull off this incredible shoot.

The Oakley, the venue for this shoot really helped inspire the design the team chose. "The venue is truly a blank slate! You can take it classic, high-end and formal or rustic and modern! It gives you everything you need to put your own personality on the venue for your event!" Ashley raves. Her favorite part was the natural mix of elegant and rustic touches. The Oakley has both incredible lines and beautiful views—such as the gorgeous lake around the venue.

Purple was growing in popularity at the time of this shoot, which is why Ashley and Sarah decided to feature it in their color scheme. "It complemented the venue, the style and look I was going for as well as it all matched my branding!" Ashley explains. An additional perk to doing this shoot was to help Ashley show prospective customers her new branding at the time. We think the color is stunning and perfectly accents the venue and this shoot.

To find the perfect dress, Ashley went to Amazon, but the two she ordered did not arrive on time. However, the one she did use ended up working wonderfully with this shoot. Ashley explains, "With my branding and the vibe I wanted were those that could accent well but also add a touch of something new such as a pink bridal gown!" The bride looks simply stunning, and the dress complements the rich purples of the shoot.

The geometric arch was the jumping-off point for the whole shoot. It influenced the decor, the invitations and even the florals. Ashley and Sarah decided to use local flowers to decorate their scene, and the arrangements are gorgeous! "I wanted a more raw modern wood look for this to vibe with the geometric look for the day," Ashley gushes. And they pulled it off flawlessly. Who knew polygons could look so good!
