It’s not always easy to plan a winter wedding, especially when contending with chilly weather or snowy days. But don’t overlook this season. Great style and versatility can be just as accessible in winter as they are in others! Don’t believe us? Take a look at this stunning style shoot, and we think you’ll agree winter weddings can be nothing short of breathtaking.
“With temperatures that can be downright frigid, planning a wedding in the winter in Michigan is not all that popular,” says Cassie Celestine from White Dress Events. “Winter here, however, can be beautiful, and it was the simple loveliness of the season that inspired this shoot.” Ying Woehlaff from Century Club Ballroom came up with the concept for her space and wanted to create a romantic, winter wedding setting to inspire couples to think outside of the summer months when planning their wedding.
“With a monochromatic color palette of white and silver, we brought the outdoors inside,” explains Cassie. “Adding textures like the white confetti linens and sparkling, white sequin table covering really captured the feel of snow, while elements like the clear glass vases, acrylic escort cards and ghost chairs were our ice contributions. Lots of candles, soft white roses, hydrangeas, and a stunning lace and tulle gown definitely enhanced the romantic feel that we hoped to achieve.”
The bride’s dress embodied the snowy, wonderland feel the team hoped for. The full, fluffy skirt, lace and tulle were the perfect nods to winter. In order to create the soft and romantic feel, the stylist kept to a light makeup palette. The look was completed with soft, flowing curls.
"The florist used an all-white color palette but brought in some bold, large Monstera leaves in the bouquet to contrast the stark white,” Cassie says. “White roses, hydrangeas, Dendrobium orchids, Phalaenopis orchids and Italian ruscus were used as well.”
In addition to the three-tiered cake with detailed piping and shimmering layers, the team also incorporated white cupcakes, cake pops and sugar cookies all dipped in coarse sugar.
In order to bring the gorgeous feel of snow and ice into the shoot, the team used ghost chairs, clear chargers rimmed in silver beads, silver hammered flatware, silver rimmed china, white sequin linens, white leaf linens, silver mercury glasses and clear stemware.
