Lauren and Leighton’s love story began when they met in college, but it was under the fireworks over Cinderella’s castle at Disney that Leighton proposed. Lauren wasted no time in planning, even grabbing wedding magazines at the airport on the way home. Inspired mostly by Pinterest, Lauren also invested in a wedding planning book and downloaded a wedding app to help with her planning.
When it came to finding her dream gown, Lauren says, “I actually went to David’s Bridal just to begin to figure out what I wanted in a dress. The dress I picked was actually the second dress that I had ever tried on! The lady helping me made me try on a few more just because it was my first time looking. I just continued to be in love with that dress, so I ended up getting it that day.”
When it came to projects, Lauren’s mom was a huge help. “My mom was AMAZING and she did a lot of crafting,”Lauren says. “She made all my centerpieces, all the extra decor (little block letters that said things like 'happily ever after'), and my dad and I made our place cards. I also made a photo stand out of a pallet.”
Lauren adds, “One thing that was really special to me was the chair I had in memory of my grandpa. He meant a lot to me and I loved how I got to have that special place for him at the wedding. My husband is also from Jamaica, so my garter was beautifully designed to represent that. We also had a gondola out on the canal that the guests could use during cocktail hour and later in the evening. This was also how my husband and I did our send-off.”
