A Bride and Her Horse Style Shoot

Having a lot of friends with horses, Monika of  Monika Anderson Photography was inspired to create a simple shoot where the main focus would be the bride, her horse and the relationship between the two of them. “We see wedding photos with dogs and other pets all the time, but horses are very rare,” she says.

Lucky to have a horse that really liked to pose, Monika only needed to contend with Mother Nature. Monika says, “I told myself that rain can’t stop us. If most of the shoots are done in golden hours, we will rock it in rain! So we did. In the end, we were all soaking wet, but happy with the results!”
 

Monika immediately fell in love with the private property where she shot, including the big, old willow tree, meadow and farm carriage that added a bit of “cowboy” feel. “The bride brought her cowboy boots and some horseshoes for the shoot as well,” says Monika.

“Our amazing flower designer used garden roses, anemones, ivy, and plumosia,” says Monika. “She created a flower crown, bouquet and even a ‘necklace’ for the horse. Bright pink flowers provided such a beautiful contrast, and the colors seemed to really pop on the rainy day. And since we wanted to keep everything else simple, we really wanted to add that nice, colorful contrast in floral décor.”

The bride wore a simple, flowy gown and her hair was brought into a beautiful updo hair style with a side braid. “This hairstyle is great for an elegant wedding and even this country style shoot,” explains Monika. “In the rainy conditions, it was important to keep the hair together.”
