It’s pretty hard not to love all things vintage, rustic and chic these days. Alesha Laws of Follow Your Arrow Photography certainly does and, being new to wedding photography, desired to create something that could showcase her style. She started with two gowns and a pretty palette of golds, navy and merlot. She says, “While one look is more classy with a sleek, elegant gown and a full tux, the other look includes a dress full of detail and tulle with laid-back suspenders and a bow tie.”
The Homestead 1835 was a gorgeous match for her rustic, chic shoot. “I had shot with another photographer there a while back and fell in love,” says Alesha. “We had zero challenges during this shoot. The weather was absolutely perfect, and the owners made sure that we had everything we needed for our session.” She adds, “Each vendor I worked with so graciously donated their time and talents to bring this shoot to life.”
The bride’s hair and makeup looks were designed to match the two different vibes. “The bride’s hair was done in an updo for the first fitted dress. After switching to the fuller dress, we changed her hair to more of a down do with a sweet side and went for a natural look with warmer brown tones.”
Adding to the rich palette was the gold-themed decor. “We went for white table settings with a touch of greenery on the top," says Alesha. "I also added gold silverware.” The on-trend naked cake featured an almond flavor and raspberry filling. Fresh florals added the perfect pop of color.
WHAT WE LOVE
We love all the pretty and current trends in this shoot. Alesha says, “I think the whole shoot was based off of hot trends. The colors, styles of dresses, the rustic barn, the big bouquet—everything was aimed at being what brides are currently looking for in wedding ideas.”
