When Lori J. Osborne, owner and planner of TLC Events & Weddings met Carli Dixon, owner of The Brightside Music & Event Venue, she was impressed by the venue’s industrial vibes and interior features. Lori adds, “The ballroom has exposed brick and natural wood accent walls, as well as exposed beams and a concrete floor.” This industrial style was refreshing to the area and Lori knew she had to do a shoot there!

“I immediately began envisioning a steampunk theme for the shoot, but I also knew I wanted to bring that theme to a completely new level by highlighting pieces from the 1800s Victorian era,” says Lori. “I began envisioning a juxtaposition of the dark elements of steampunk and industrial with vibrant florals and Victorian china.” This juxtaposition was brought to life in a vibrant style using a bold color palette and vintage decor.

To mix the dark edge of the Victorian era with this industrial venue, the team stuck to deep hues. “We knew we wanted to keep the table linens simple and black so that the colors of the china and goblets would be accentuated,” says Lori. “We also knew we wanted the florals to be very bright and vibrant, using lots of greenery and especially incorporating Victorian roses.”

The dress in this shoot is truly one-of-a-kind. Lori remarks, “The dress was really a stroke of luck. I knew from the start that I wanted Ruby Randall to be the bride model. She owns many of her own outfits and gowns – and when I mentioned to her that we were looking for something that looked vintage and 1800s, she immediately presented us with photos and a video of her gown.” Having a gown from the actual era helped to deliver the entire theme of the shoot. This bridal look mixed with modern, lush florals and the brick interior made for a unique image.

Other features of this shoot that were the eye-catching were the stationery pieces. Paper Blooms n More and Chrissy Lane Designs created gorgeous designs from the invites to the table numbers and name cards. Lori adds, “The invitation incorporated both the gear design with rose accents, with a steel copper patina.”
