Chas and Maddie attended Marian University in Indianapolis where they both played sports and sat next to each other in Philosophy. Though they talked everyday, neither of them made a move. They were able to reconnect later through sports friends and the rest is history! Chas took Maddie out to lunch on her birthday so her parents could set up their backyard for the proposal. "There was a sign saying 'Maddie, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you marry me?' with flowers, candles, pictures of us, signs with sayings about soulmates and of course a photographer," Maddie recalls.

We have to talk about how incredible Maddie looks in her dress! Going in to her appointment, Maddie knew that she wanted something that was simple but not boring. She had seen the square neckline look before and saved a few dresses on Instagram, but she had never tried it on before. Maddie gushes, "As soon as I tried it on, everyone was crying. It was that special feeling that I can’t explain but you just know that it’s the dress you’re supposed to wear. It was a very magical feeling and special moment I will never forget." We think it looks perfect on her along with her loose curls and natural makeup!

"A classic, black and white wedding is something we both have always wanted so we knew from the jump that was our goal," Maddie says. "We made a 'vision board' with pictures of what we wanted to ensure it all flowed together magically." Maddie actually had a Pinterest board that was full of black and white wedding ideas to help them narrow their vision as the planning began. Their venue was the perfect place to host this wedding because of the contrasting black and white interior as well as the overall elegant feel of the space.

With such a fixed image of what they wanted for their big day in their minds, Maddie and Chas needed to be selective with their vendors. "We chose all of our venders based off their work on social media and their reviews. We looked at other weddings they had done to see if it was the vibe we were wanting and went from there," Maddie explains. We think the team brought Maddie and Chas's dream wedding to life beautifully!

What We Love

Though they had many special people present to celebrate their marriage with, both Maddie and Chas have lost loved ones who they wanted to be there for their big day. Since they were unable to make it in person, Maddie and Chas dedicated an "In Memory of" table to those loved ones and had charms for them to wear during their ceremony. Maddie and Chas also had a special display to honor those who had come before them. "Another special touch was we had a large frame with all of our family member’s wedding photos and dates," Maddie shares. "Something special about our families is everyone is married. We wanted to showcase this on our special day to show the love we grew up surrounded by."

Advice From the Couple

Maddie and Chas advise, " My number one piece of advice is on the day of your wedding and even the rehearsal, take every single moment in. Remember those feelings and memories with your closest friends and family. Remember looking in the mirror for the first time the morning of the wedding. Remember the feeling and faces you get when people see you in your dress and tux for the first time. Soak everything in because the day(s) fly by. Take a mental picture of everything and every special moment. Also, plan the venue and date first and then all vendors (including your dress). Once those are done, a lot of stress will be lifted off your shoulders. It is such a special time, try to not let stress overwhelm you. At the end of the day, you are marrying the person of your dreams, that’s the main thing that matters."
