Kevin and Barb were meant to be and we aren’t saying that in a cheesy way. They grew up in the same neighborhood (living less than a mile away from one another), they went to the same high school, they went to the same university and even majored in the same subject. However, the two would not actually become official until they lived across the country from one another. Barb says, “The irony of having been in a long-distance relationship for the last four years with Kevin is knowing we grew up in the same subdivision less than one mile from each other. Needless to say, frequent trips to and from Arizona and Indiana have become commonplace. Thank you, Southwest Airlines!”

Kevin came up with an unforgettable proposal for Barb. As a high school principal, Kevin used his creative side and his resources to write an entire play for Barb. “A very talented musical director who assists the school corporation and several high school drama students brought the script to life, spending endless hours learning their lines and practicing each scene during their precious weeks of summer vacation,” says Barb. “Near the end of the play, Kevin’s actor seamlessly transitioned into Kevin, who appeared on stage. Simultaneously I was escorted to the stage, where Kevin proposed, and during this time, our families and some close friends also appeared from behind the curtain. The moment was magical.”

Barb’s ring was equally as magical as Kevin’s proposal. It was custom-made and Kevin came up with the design himself. Barb adds, “The team worked with Kevin to create a masterpiece. Kevin always tells me he wanted to give me something I would always be very proud of having. I absolutely love it and feature it every chance I get.”

Now that the planning has begun, the couple has honed in on what means the most for them. They knew Abbey Elaine Photography had to capture their engagement session and wedding. Barb says, “Her impeccable work speaks for itself; I knew we needed her the second I saw a session she created between Kevin and Sophie, Kevin’s daughter. When it comes to Abbey, a picture absolutely tells a thousand words. We can’t wait to see all the brilliance she captures on our wedding day!”
