It all started with a poke--on Facebook that is. Mark and Megan were living across the country from one another but connected through mutual friends. When it came time for the proposal, the couple took an early morning hike to Cathedral Rock in Sedona. Mark popped the question on a rock landing, and Megan said an enthusiastic yes!

Megan’s hunt for her perfect dress had faced a few roadblocks. She first found “the one” at a local boutique near her family. “We were all very swept up in the emotion of it all and I said ‘yes to the dress’ very quickly, having tried on only a few others in the store. Six months later, when the dress arrived from the designer warehouse, it was NOT ‘the one.’ Yikes! I made the very tough decision to put that dress (brand new never worn) up for sale and to start the search again, with six months before our big day.” We’re so happy she found the perfect match!

The couple didn’t know what exactly they wanted their wedding to look like, but knew they wanted the wedding to be in Michigan, near a lake, and have a mix of rustic and industrial. After looking over designer portfolios, reviewing work done on previous weddings, and reading recommendations, they nailed down their vendor list for their big day!

What we love

This wedding was full of sentimental touches from the families involved. Megan’s grandmother was her flower girl, their oldest niece and nephew were the “junior bridesmaid and groomsmen” and Megan’s wedding veil was her sister-in-law’s. Megan adds, “Mark was a professional bartender out in Los Angles for over fifteen years, and he created two signature cocktails for us for the day of the wedding!”

Advice from the couple

Megan encourages future brides to hire a day-of coordinator. “I had a lot of the day planned, but my coordinator thought of details and plans that I never would have thought of.”
