A Midsummer Night's Dream in Indianapolis: The Vow Renewal of Beth and Rich Waterman

After doing a quick wedding eight years ago that didn't really reflect them as couple, Beth and Rich decided that a second wedding was what they needed to celebrate their journey together. "Rich and I have fought so many things together...my battle with breast cancer, watching our daughter go off to college then getting a 'big girl' career, building our businesses together," Beth explains. "It was so much and we decided in that moment, that marrying each other all over again was the absolute best way to celebrate our lives together."

Weddings are something that Beth and Rich are very familiar with as they work in several areas in the wedding industry. That being said, Beth knew immediately what the vision for their vow renewal would be thanks to her planning business, Ivory by Design! Beth shares, "When Rich proposed many moons ago, he chose a garden on the canal downtown Indianapolis. It was evening and there were lights twinkling everywhere. The theme came to life to capture that moment." From there, they built a 'Midsummer Night's Dream meets celestial' theme to capture both the garden and the twinkling lights.

We have to talk about that beautiful dress that Beth is wearing! Despite over scheduling and missing an appointment at a local bridal salon, Beth was able to find her ideal dress. "I saw this gown in the window and it just spoke to me. I was head over heels for the underlayment of sequins and the slight blue tint to the dress. It was so soft, flowing and elegant and showed off my figure perfectly," Beth raves. We could not agree more! And the light, natural makeup highlights Beth's beauty even more.

Aside from their planning and floral business, Beth and Rich have also built a venue that was the perfect place to host the vow renewal ceremony of their dreams. The Ivory Foundry has a wonderful combination of elegant garden spaces that juxtapose beautifully with its more industrial elements. "The way the venue glows, the pure warmth and joy you feel inside was something we knew we wanted to share with our friends and family," Beth gushes. "The multiple buildings worked so perfectly for us, it was a simple and easy choice for us."

What We Love

"We focused the wedding on unique touches so I think everything was done with our love story in mind, but some of my favorite elements were so fun!" Beth says. Part of the fun for them was being able to design so many elements of their day. Beth had the most fun with the stationery she made. The cake for this event also adds a fun flair! Beth and Rich didn't see the cake until the day of the wedding and were floored with how perfect it was for their celebration.

Advice from the Couple

Beth and Rich advise, "DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY! Seriously. Don’t let what you think you should do get in the way of what you want to do. That was the mistake we made in our wedding day so many years ago, that we corrected with our vow renewal. We both wish we would have done what we wanted originally. Also, find your budget focus. What is most important to you in the wedding day and spend your budget there. In the end, this is your special day. Do what brings you joy."
