Gabriella Sutherland spent three months planning and designing this shoot that embodies rustic characteristics with contemporary design and prowess. Combining her Midwestern roots with her ability to curate a style that pushes new bounds, she came up with this shoot which is nothing short of breathtaking. She says, “I wanted to display a rustic feel that complemented the barn, with simple colors that included at least one element that hasn’t been seen often in the wedding industry (yet!).”

When it came to choosing the perfect location for the shoot, she turned to The Farm at Harvest Hills. “This location offered many different photo background opportunities,” she adds. “Many artistic elements that complemented the rustic barn style concept.”

The florals were a center point for the style concept. Working with Bloom Florals, Gabriella had a vision for overflowing bouquets and centerpieces that still offered an organic feel. She adds, “Janet from Bloom Florals really made my floral dreams come to life. She added a touch of peach colored roses, which I think complemented the table perfectly and gave it that touch of color it needed to offset all of the neutral colors.” The floral colors were a testament to perfectly balancing a color palette in order to bring through a sense of emotion.

The bridal look for the shoot was equally as romantic as the design. The team chose a multi-piece gown. Gabriella notes, “Kaitlin from The Bride Babe gave me the choice to piece together through various options. I loved the two-piece look while still being one dress because it's very popular right now.” The dress also featured pockets, a comfortable, high-end cut and an effortless mood — everything a modern bride could be seeking.

For the stationery, Gabriella went to Ampersand Design Co. Searching for a neutral design that would complement the richer tones of the shoot, Gabriella needed a designer that could balance minimalism with elegance. She adds, “Caitlin hit it out of the park with the colors, and even experimented and added a little bit of gold tones to make the invitations look unique.”

The Woo Pack Cake Company produced the ideal cake for the shoot. “I have worked with many cake vendors, and I can say that this company really replicated my idea. I really loved the idea of the rustic string that wrapped around the cake, to tie in the rustic feel.” The cake was a nod to the charming, organic feel of the shoot without going overboard.
