It’s easy to push your self-care to the side during the turmoil of wedding planning. Press pause on the madness for a day to treat yourself at the spa for a much-needed relaxation and refreshment session.

Kyle Griggs, the owner of New You Oasis, knows how important it is to take time for you when you’re getting married. Between customized massage, facials, waxing and sauna sessions, New You Oasis is ready to pamper you. Local to the South Bend area, the team at New You Oasis is committed to helping you relax and recharge with professional and personalized service. We sat down with Kyle to discuss his passion for helping brides rejuvenate before their big day.


Can you tell us about what motivated you to start your business?

"My wife and sister were both working independently–one is an esthetician and the other one is a massage therapist. I wanted to make sure they could continue to pursue their dreams along with bringing a very unique and different business to South Bend that has never been brought here before. We all came together as a team and came up with the idea of a wellness spa and here we are! I also wanted to make sure that we made all of the services affordable for everyone to be able to enjoy services not just a select few as self-care is very important but many hesitate to go into a spa setting because of the way this industry acts at times. We created a spa for everyone to enjoy and pamper themselves!"

 
What is your business background? What skills should we know about?

"I have been involved in a few different businesses mainly as an investor to assist with others' passions and dreams. I did not go to college, nor do I have a degree, but I had a vision of what I wanted to do. I wanted to help others be successful, and I did it. I do not have any special skills, or should I say, no more than anyone else. I believe it is what you put into something and then utilize the skills needed for it to become a success. I think it’s more of opportunities that come your way or someone providing the tools for you and you learn how to utilize those tools to become the person you are today. If you operate your life with purpose, pride and passion, eventually you can succeed at whatever you put your mind to."


Would you say that your passion lies in your business? If so, what is that passion and how does it affect your business?

"I would agree that my passion lies in my business. I love helping others and seeing people succeed and do great things. At the spa, I try to make people understand their worth and also brighten up their day. I make sure all customers are happy and feel like family when visiting us. I believe my business thrives when my team and I build relationships with our customers and help them make informed decisions."

 

How do you differentiate your services from other business that provide the same services? What makes you stand out?

"We do have a few services that are similar to other spas in our area, but we have services that have never been brought to our area ever. The difference isn’t with the service, but with the therapists. If a therapist has a passion for what they do and build a relationship with their customers, then that’s what makes us stand out. On top of that, we are realistic and make sure the services are affordable for everyone."


As a business owner, what do you strive to accomplish? What should potential clientele know about you?

"I strive to be the best I can possibly be every day. I strive to make sure my clients and everyone around me are happy and get results. I strive to be a good person and make sure I treat everyone with love and respect, just how I would like to be treated. I am also a realistic person. I am not perfect, nor is anyone else, but I can assure my clients they will be treated with the utmost respect and leave with the results they came in looking to get. I would say that 98.9% of our clients leave completely happy and satisfied."

 

Tell us about your services. What is beneficial? How do you help your clients (i.e. enhance their health)?

"I have many unique services such as Sensory Deprivation, Halotherapy, Cupping Massage, Dermaplaning, Sugaring (waxing) Infrared Sauna, Customized Massages, Customized Facials and more. We help our clients by being patient and taking the time to actually listen to them and figure out together which service best suits them. It is up to the client to enhance their health all we can do is inform and guide."


Why do you love your industry?

"I love this industry because I get to help people. I get to see smiles on people’s faces. I get to see people try something new that they have never done before and I’m part of that experience. I’m happy to be part of the change in people that comes with this industry and the services. I get to assist people with one of the most important choices in life, which is self-care!"

 

What is your favorite thing about what you do? What creates fun in your job?

"My favorite thing to do is meet people and help them! I love meeting new people, and making sure they have a great experience while visiting us! The fun part is learning something new about someone and what they have experienced in their lives. I enjoy the smiles and great laughs we have with customers."

 

How can a couple planning their wedding use your services?

"I believe a couple can utilize our services by learning them first then utilizing them. Planning a wedding is one of the most stressful things you can encounter and it is important that you take care of yourself. A lot of couples such as my wife and I always worried about how to make everyone else happy and forgot to focus on us and what would help us destress and decompress, even for an hour in the day. We have many services that couples can benefit from and we will assure and make sure they have the ultimate relaxation experience while visiting us. Everything in life is a choice and they have to make the choice to come in and let us do our jobs right and efficiently to help relieve a little stress and worry for their special day."


What tips would you give your clients? How can they use your services to enhance their lives?

"The biggest tips I can give to all my clients are first of all treat yourself to something nice. Second, make an informed decision, not emotional. Third, make sure you do your research and come prepared. Fourth, ask questions so you completely understand what you are doing. And last, make sure you relax! Trust in us that we are doing our job and will get you the results you came in for.

As far as an enhancement in lives, all I can say is the services we have to offer are repetitive, not magic. You need to utilize the service more than once or twice to get to your goal of results you are wanting. Many people believe you can walk in a spa and get the Hollywood results you see every day after one visit. That’s not the reality at all, and it’s important to worry about you and what others are doing. Everyone is special and unique in their own way. If you tell us what you need, and we will sit down and help you get the results of the enhancement you’re looking for."
